Duophonic means two “voices.” Most early synths (including modular systems) are monophonic, which means they can play only one note at a time; some instruments have enough oscillators, filters, envelopes, and amplifiers that they could play two separate notes as once. Some MIDI interfaces for modular synths include duophonic modes so you can patch up and control two separate voices from your keyboard.
