After discussing some rather advanced modules in the previous installment, this time I focus on low-fi modules from Catalyst (Buchla 100 recreations and Soulsby (8-bit oscillator+filter+…), as well as a couple of interesting new offerings from Warm Star.
In this installment I discuss updates to the Expert Sleepers Disting and ES-8, the introduction of the Five12 Vector Sequencer (hardware cousin of their Numerology sequencing software), and share conversations with Dave Rossum about design challenges in his new Morpheus filter and upcoming Assimil8or sample player.
I’m at the NAMM music show in Anaheim California, and thought I’d summarize some conversations and share some quick impressions of a few of the booths I visited on the first day of the show.
